People Plan

Becoming a community that fosters and supports resilience and upward mobility

Vision

The Shreveport Choice Neighborhood will become a community that fosters and supports resilience and upward mobility for all families and individuals who reside in Allendale, Ledbetter Heights and the West Edge.

Strategies

Volunteers of America North Louisiana, in partnership with residents, social service agencies, and businesses, will lead the effort to address the needs of residents of Choice Neighborhood, who qualify as low income.

The People Plan focuses on three critical areas – education, employment, and health care – with the goal of lasting stability for the individuals and families of the neighborhood.  Once realized, these outcomes will:

Ensure children and youth are succeeding in school with goals for the future

Provide necessary skills to access living wage jobs

Improve health and quality of life in the neighborhood

Case Management and Supportive Services

Volunteers of America brings more than 80 years of experience in social services to the residents of Choice Neighborhood. Residents will work with case managers to create and manage family and individual goals based on their individual needs. With the help of partner agencies, Volunteers of America will walk with residents as they eliminate any barriers to achieving their goals and take advantage of every opportunity for success. Goals are assessed regularly with the case managers.

The following network of expert partners will provide special programs and services directed at the residents:
